249 g Development Targets
A compact first-flight platform focused on low-noise, high power potential, extended flight-time targets, weather-capable design, and a lightweight 249 g development direction.
Rewards
CPAE Flight marks the beginning of a scalable technology development path in the field of advanced aerial propulsion systems. Our focus is on validating an independently developed concept intended to enable more compact, quieter, safer, and at the same time highly capable flight platforms. The current phase is dedicated to the first real flight, technical validation, and systematic continued development based on real test data. The drone shown is only one of several possible forms this technology could take. CPAE Flight deliberately follows a development path that does not rely exclusively on long-term pre-financing and continuous investment rounds. Instead, we aim to use smaller, market-oriented products in early phases to help cover part of future development costs, secure technological continuity, and establish initial market visibility. This creates a model built on two supporting pillars: strategic financing through investors and an emerging business operation that connects early validation, visibility, and sustainable continued development.
FIRST NON-FLIGHT-CAPABLE DEMONSTRATOR
This first non-flight-capable demonstrator serves as a physical test platform for validating functional principles, material behavior, assembly details, and integration decisions. It does not represent the final flight-ready prototype, but it establishes an important technical foundation for the next development stage, where the system architecture will be transferred into a flight-capable prototype.
TECHNOLOGY TARGETS & CONCEPT VISUALS
These visuals summarize key development targets and design principles behind CPAE Flight. They connect the physical demonstrator with the next flight-ready prototype stage and show how noise reduction, weather capability, stability, compact propulsion architecture, geometric optimization, and future configuration options are being framed for the campaign.

Development archive and early technical prototypes
ARCHIVE PHOTO: V1
Current: V4 in operation
This archive photo shows the first development stage of the emulsion machine mentioned in the film. A centrally driven rotor combined six inlets and brought liquids and gases together in a controlled, highly accelerated flow path, even to the point of forming fine emulsions.
Inside the system, the media were accelerated and guided through different nozzles and flow channels. The core operating principle was based on a deliberately created pressure difference with a suction effect, rather than the conventional approach of forcing media outward by overpressure. This same principle later became an important source of inspiration for my flight rotor and the movement of large air masses.
CPAE TEST ROTOR V1
As an additional reference to the film, this image shows the first small-scale CPAE test rotor. It was built to explore and validate the underlying suction-based flow principle that later became an important foundation for the CPAE flight rotor concept. For this test, the rotor was significantly scaled down, while the essential geometry remained largely unchanged, apart from adjusted wall thicknesses.
From this point onward, the rotor was progressively optimized for airflow in later tests. The goal was to find the best possible balance between mechanical simplification, manufacturability and functional flow performance.
LOTUS Test Setup
This presentation shows one of the first test setups in which I made the Coandă effect visible within a suction-based flow path. The normal view shows the external setup, while the transparent view provides a clearer understanding of the internal channels and flow guidance. The name LOTUS was inspired by the organic flow character of the setup and its visual similarity to a lotus-shaped structure.
Shortly after the air inlets, the channels include an additional 1 mm constriction to further accelerate the flow and make it adhere to the surface in a controlled way. The channels were so narrow that the visualization smoke partially clogged them after a short time, which prevented a second smoke test. Despite the strong redirection, the smoke pattern showed no noticeable separation, indicating stable flow guidance and supporting the effectiveness of the rotor concept.
Resonance Testing and Rotor Balancing
These test rotors, manufactured from a metal alloy, come from our resonance testing program. Each rotor is intentionally shaped slightly differently in order to measure vibration behavior, load response and structural stability across a wide RPM range. The examples shown here are the rotors that survived the tests without structural damage.
The screws on the rotors serve as balancing weights. In some cases, the production tolerances are so precise that removing only a few grams at a specific point is enough to achieve balance without affecting rotor stability. This is why some rotors do not require any added balancing weights.
As rotational speed increases, recurring resonance zones appear in which energy consumption briefly levels off before rising again, similar to regular octave jumps. This is exactly where the future control system becomes important. The electronics are intended to keep the drone, as often as possible, within these especially efficient RPM windows in order to maximize range, stability and overall operating efficiency.
For the user, this optimization remains invisible. It runs in the background without any noticeable intervention. However, when maximum precision is required, for example when holding altitude within a few inches, the automatic frequency and resonance optimization can be reduced or disabled entirely.
